Registration intakes occur in February, August and November each year. 

Applications for Registration in 2019 will open on Thursday 1 August and closes COB Friday 30 August

Who can apply?

Applications for Registered Landscape Architect membership are invited from landscape architecture professionals who have completed an AILA accredited landscape architecture undergraduate qualification (or an equivalent qualification overseas which is recognised by IFLA) and have been practising for at least two years.

  • If you have been a Registered Landscape Architect with AILA in the past and would like to re-join, you can apply as a Re-joining Member
  • If you have been working as a landscape architect for eight or more years you may be eligible for Senior Entry
  • If you have been working as a landscape architect for more than eight years but you did not graduate with an AILA accredited degree, then you may be eligible for Equivalence.


Tax deductible fees associated with registration.

  • Application fee: $800 inc GST (includes application fee and AILA membership until you pass interview)
  • Annual fee: $620 inc GST following successful interview (this will be your first annual membership and registration fee payment following the application process)

Application fee due upon acceptance of application. Fee will be refunded if application unsuccessful but will incur a $50 admin fee.  If the applicant defers their interview to the following year a deferral fee of $220 inc GST will be incurred.

Oral assessment/interview with State Chapter. Interview results sent to 

National office by Chapter. Certification - AILA issue interview results
